Welcome to the Gifting at Advent

Stewardship: A Pledge of Faith

In the past, Advent parishioners have been sought out to speak publicly on a number of topics and issues concerning their faith and relationship with God. Lenten dinners and Christian education forums have provided a backdrop for such opportunities. Members of our church family have also addressed the congregation about financial giving during the weeks prior to Stewardship Commitment Sunday.

Clearly, not everyone is comfortable with public speaking. The unspoken thoughts of some are often full of wisdom and credibility that can serve to enhance all of us. Those unspoken thoughts are the focus of this introduction to Stewardship 2007: A Pledge of Faith. During this year’s campaign, the Stewardship Commission would like to invite and encourage congregational assistance and involvement. Instead of asking for phone callers or home visitors, we seek a more passive, thoughtful and prayerful approach to stewardship.

Deacon Nancy Hauser has chosen 20 short passages from scripture that relate to stewardship. The Stewardship Commission would like to assign these to individuals who would be willing to write their thoughts (100 to 150 words) on what their assigned passage means to them. These writings will be published in a collection prior to our 2007 stewardship campaign, in hopes that congregants will read and reflect on them while preparing to make their financial commitment to God. They can be read all at once or as a daily devotional.

The Memorial Garden

The Memorial Garden

FOR PRAYER AND CONTEMPLATION, REMEMBRANCE, REFLECTION, AND REST.

The Memorial Garden was created for the interment of the cremated remains of the parishioners of the Episcopal Church of the Advent and their immediate family members.

The Garden is adjacent to the church on the west side between the Chapel and the Pastoral Care Center.

Buy a Brick

Engraved bricks available as commemorative gifts

The engraved bricks currently found surrounding the Episcopal shield in the courtyard were given as a thank you to the many families who wished to be recognized for their contributions made to the capital campaign nearly three years ago.

Engraved bricks are once again being made available to Advent parishioners. They may be given not only in memoriam to a loved one, or in thanksgiving of a special event (wedding/birth/baptism/confirmation), but also to show your continued support of Advent’s enduring place in our community.

Once your order has been placed, and the brick engraved, each brick will be permanently installed in the outdoor terraced area located just outside of Parish Hall. Bricks may be engraved up to 3 lines, with 15 characters in each line (including spaces). The cost is $100.00.
